When’s the last time someone knocked on your door without calling or texting first? Would you dare show up with a pie at a friend’s house? I have! And you know what? It was great! Our grandparents lived like that, not caring if their neighbor had everything in place. They called it living in community. It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life or think that the yard must be perfectly mowed and weeded before anyone visits. I want to get back to the old-fashioned authentic Christian community like the early church in Acts 2 who devoted themselves to the breaking of bread. Folks tell us all the time they yearn for the same thing. Let’s bake some cookies or buy a pie and knock on someone’s front door.
As always, may you find joy in the simple things. This is Marlin with Plain Values magazine. Learn more about our work at plainvalues.com.
